As a nurse practitioner, I have a passion for health. I want to live healthy, look healthy, and help others to do the same. I believe in eating healthy foods, exercise, mental health days, and long walks in the sunshine to bring warmth into your soul and soak up that glorious vitamin D.
Following the birth of my fourth child and little to no sleep for about 8 months, I was not feeling well. I had lost very little of the “baby weight” and I had almost no energy. Despite trying to exercise regularly, I felt myself in this downward spiral that I couldn’t find my way out of.
My self-image and self-confidence were at an all-time low. I knew I had to make a change. One of my good friends introduced me to Plexus and, out of desperation, I gave it a shot. So, here is my honest review in a nutshell.
What is Plexus?
Plexus is a company that sells a variety of supplements and products designed to help improve overall health. Their areas of focus include gut health, weight loss, nutrition, and skincare.
Plexus Active
This was one of the free samples sent to me when I first inquired about Plexus. I received two packets for two days and only used one. Per the Plexus website, Plexus active is a delicious mix that provides sustained energy, enhances mental clarity, focus and feelings of alertness and boosts performance.
Truth:
“Delicious” is definitely a stretch. I would say tolerable, as in I chugged it quickly to avoid having to taste it any longer than necessary.
Does it provide sustained energy? YES. It has 100mg of caffeine so, of course, you’ll notice an increased energy level. I also noticed that I never seemed to have the sugar or caffeine crash later in the day, like I do with other caffeinated drinks.
However, if you are sensitive or have a low tolerance to caffeine at all, I would not suggest this as an option. I usually only drink a max of 40mg of caffeine per day, and that isn’t at one sitting, just sipping on a drink throughout the day, so this caused legitimate heart palpitations.
Would I try again: No
Plexus Triplex
Plexus Triplex consists of Bio Cleanse capsules, Pro-Bio 5 capsules, and your choice of the Slim drink (often referred as the Pink Drink).
Bio Cleanse and Probio 5: There is a long description of benefits on the Plexus website regarding these, but basically it will help to remove yeast and bad bacteria from your gut and replace them with vitamins and probiotics (good bacteria). This will promote bowel regularity and decrease bloating, gas, and discomfort.
Truth: Yes. This works. I was shocked and never thought I would be a believer, but here I am. I have irritable bowel syndrome and this works wonders for me! It took 4-6 weeks before I could feel the full effects but was worth the wait. It is amazing how much better you feel when you aren’t bloated and miserable all day!
Slim (I use Hunger Control)
Claims to be a delicious way reduce hunger (which aids in weight loss) and helps you to feel more satisfied following meals. Drink 30-60 minutes prior to meals up to twice daily.
Truth: If you like fruity drinks, lemonade, limeade, then you will probably like this. I just don’t. With that being said, I drink it anyway. It works for me. It drastically decreases my cravings for sugar, sweets, and soda and overall, I feel better when I drink it.
Also, this helps me SO much when recovering from stomach viruses (four kids means frequent stomach bugs in our house). I always wait until I know the puking has stopped, then it’s the first thing I drink when I’m able. It settles my stomach quickly and decreases the pain that normally lingers after.
I should note that because of the price, I usually only drink one per day. I’m frugal and I cringe at some of these prices.
Gut Health Plus Combo
This combo includes the components of the Triplex: Bio Cleanse, Pro Bio 5, and Slim, plus VitalBiome and XFactor Plus. These two additions are packed full of vitamins and are advertised to increase immune function (can you say vitamin C?), support normal thyroid function, and help with balancing your hormones.
Truth: I couldn’t tell much of a difference. For the price increase, I’m not sure it is worth it. I was really hoping for the immune boost because since our twins started kindergarten, we have been sick almost every single week. But nothing changed. After several months I decided to go back to the Triplex. Now, I will say I noticed my PMS has worsened significantly since stopping the VitalBiome and Xfactor Plus…Is it a coincidence? I’m not sure.
Would I try again? If my hormones continue to make me crazy—absolutely!
Summary
Overall, I would recommend Plexus if you are trying to lose weight, improve your belly bloat/gut health, or have issues with diarrhea and constipation and need relief. I was pleasantly surprised by these products.
Not everyone has success, but they do offer a 60-day money back guarantee on their products. My sister wasn’t satisfied with her combo, so she went through the process of getting a refund. She had a great experience and said customer service made it simple and were very friendly and professional.
There are so many more products I have yet to try. I’m very interested in the collagen and skin care options they have added! I would really love to review those products one day, as well.
If you are interested in trying these products, please talk with your doctor and take a look at my website. I am considered an “Ambassador,” meaning I can sell the product and make a small commission. I never thought I would actually try to sell this. I, honestly, only signed up for the Ambassador product discount, which is pretty great.
