As a family of six living on one income, I try to save money anyway I can.
My husband works hard for the money he makes, and I feel a personal responsibility to spend his hard-earned money wisely. I have done couponing, meal planning, second-hand shopping, but this has been the easiest method to save a few bucks each shopping trip. Below are a list of money saving and rebate apps that can help you each month!
- Ibotta
Probably the most widely known rebate app right now but for good reason. It’s a very user friendly app and quick return on rebates. First download the app and create a profile, then you select the store you are shopping at and browse and select offers. After shopping, snap a photo of your receipt to verify your purchase and, in a few hours, you receive the rebate in your account. You can even link your Walmart account to make it easier and faster to receive rebates! Use my referral code (nalfdsx) to get $10 in your account after you submit your first receipt!
2. Checkout 51
Very similar to Ibotta. Browse and choose offers within the app and verify your purchase with a photo of your receipt. What I like about this app is you can save money at the pump! The best I have seen is 8 cents off per gallon of gasoline up to 50 gallons. I’ll take that!
3. Fetch Rewards
Scan your receipts and earn points. Simple. You can link it with your Amazon account as well, so you don’t miss any points with online shopping. This app keeps up with your purchases and categorizes them by retailer so you see just how much you spend at each place by week, month, and year. Very handy if you keep track of spending like I do. Use my referral code (ND4RE) to get 2000 points after your first uploaded receipt. Invite friends to earn more points! To put it into perspective 1000 points = $1. Not a huge return but it’s so easy and you get money for referrals.
4. Coupons.com
Choose a store, choose an item, and submit a photo of your receipt to verify purchase. Noticing a trend yet? Very user friendly app and, like most other rebate apps, it is free.
5. Kroger
If you shop regularly at Kroger then you need to download the app. Make sure you have a Kroger card to link the app to. Before you shop, go to the app and choose the digital coupons for that shopping trip. Some of them you can use up to 5 times!
Not app related but if you aren’t receiving Kroger Best Customer coupons in the mail, call customer service or go to the customer service desk inside the store to sign up! You could get coupons in the mail every 4-6 weeks!
6. Rakuten
There are 2,500 different stores you can shop online and get cash back with this app. Open the app, choose a store and you will be directed to the website within Rakuten, then shop. I would definitely recommend Christmas shopping within the app. The cash back makes you feel so much better about shopping. Use my referral link (https://www.rakuten.com/r/KRIS10906 ) to receive $30 back after the first $30 spent! That’s $30 worth of free merchandise! Please and thank you!
7. GoodRx
As a nurse practitioner, I have to throw this one in here. This isn’t about rebates or cash back, this is purely finding the cheapest price for medications to save you money. If you are on a tight budget, fixed income, insurance or no insurance, 1 or 2 medications or a long, complicated list of medications you need this app. The price difference of even one medication can make or break a budget. Using this app I saved $100 in one month!
Having these apps have really make a difference in our monthly budget. If there are any that you use that I have left out, please feel free to comment below or message me!
